In this day and time who doesn’t have a GPS system in their cars or on their phones? For instance, I’m one person that loves to use my GPS app. And many times its not because I don’t know how to get to the destination but because I like to measure for instance the time it’s going to take me to get there or if theres any traffic with alternative routes I should take. Plus, I like it just in case I get lost if I’m going somewhere I do not frequent. But the great thing about the GPS is that it gives you the overview of the route you have to go on in order to reach the destination, turn by turn. And no worries if you get off the track on your route, it will automatically reroute you again from where you made a mistake. Don’t you sometimes wish everything in life was the same way?!
Hey Life, what route should I take to find my dream job?
Hey Life, what’s the quickest route to find the love of my life?
Hey Life, how long will it take me to get to my dream?
Nope, life doesn’t offer you this type of GPS system. The type of GPS system life does offer is one that runs on your faith in the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John14:6). Now with this GPS you’re not going to get the overview of the path you’re going to take, turn by turn, but He does say: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (Psalms 32:8-9 NIV). God is the ultimate guide for your life! Even when we don’t see a way in the wilderness of life, God KNOWS and will make a way (Isaiah 43:19).
Do you think God gave Abraham or David the overview of their destinations in life? Nope! And I’m sure many times they wished to have the overview of the route they were on but God just gave them a promise like He gives us today. What I love most about these two men, was how their faith was so strong in God that they trusted that God would provide the path and guide them to reach those promises. They knew in their heart God would not lead them astray. Even when they didn’t understand why they were going on a certain path, like when Abraham headed up the mountain to sacrifice his promised son Isaac. He knew and even told Isaac, God will provide. And spoiler alert God provided!
For instance, lets look at when David was being chased down by King Saul to be killed. I love what faith-filled Mr.David , “Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me” (Psalm 31:3). And God did, time and time again and He never left David, or Abraham. Even when they made mistakes and shifted of the route, God was there to guide them back on the path. Ever since I read that passage, part of my daily talks with God, I always ask him “to always lead me and guide me for His name sake”.
Back in March, I was hit with a curve ball in which I mentioned in my previous post (You Have a Choice) and I decided to trust God with it. Now obviously I didn’t get the overview either but I knew that I had surrendered and traded in my old GPS for the One that knows it all. And ever since then, I have seen how God has been guiding me to a new stage of my life filled with opportunities, new places, and doing new things. With His lead He’s even opened my eyes to gifts that I didn’t know I had. Months ago, like many I was trying so hard to control the route of my life and take steps toward what I thought I wanted my life to be but when I look back now I was going in circles like a crazy person. So I upgraded to this new GPS and so far He has not failed. Now, there are times where I don’t understand where He is guiding me but ultimately I know and have faith that its to a great final destination.
God’s. Positioning. System.
“for I am giving you good guidance. Don’t turn away from my instructions.” Proverbs 4:2 (NLT)
